Welcome (continued from home page)
The Parish Council will continue to post details of planning applications on this web-site and will also advise near neighbours who are affected.
During the next 12 – 18 months we shall see a proliferation of wind turbines; DIRFT 2 will be almost complete and DIRFT 3 will be approaching the planning application stage. The planning application for SUE, the “Sustainable Urban Extension” of Rugby on the BT Radio Station site is being considered now, which will create a new town of 6500 homes and complete the massive development of the west side of the M1 motorway. The government have now given the go-ahead for the re-modelling Junction 19 of the M1. The public inquiry will be held later this year and work is expected to start in 2013. This will inevitably put more pressure on the A5, particularly when accidents occur.
In the closer proximity to the village, demolition of the remaining buildings of the old Butchers Petfood complex starts in January and the construction of a large new warehouse is likely to commence before the year ends. We expect a detailed planning application to be submitted for approx. 135 houses to be built on the site between the Playing field, the By-pass and Yelvertoft Road. Outline permission for this development has already been granted. Developers are also preparing plans to build approx 22 houses on land at the site of Manor Farm on Yelvertoft Road.
Their initial proposal is to demolish the Manor House and gain access to the site from Yelvertoft Road. The Parish Council are unanimous in their opposition to this proposal.
We will continue to press for improvements to traffic management in the centre of the village and for a safe passage for pedestrians over the A428 canal bridge. Both projects have significant financial requirements and we continue to fight for contributions from the developers who make so much financial gain from their schemes in this area.
I and my colleagues can always be contacted through this website and our contact details are in each edition of “Crick News”. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns that the Parish Council may be able to assist with.
Danny Tolfts.
Chairman. January 2012.
